Many Aston Villa fans have responded to a transfer report linking Liverpool striker Divock Origi with a potential move to the club.
After Villa preserved their Premier League status on the final day of the season, manager Dean Smith will now be fully focused on preparing for the new campaign and it has been reported that he has been handed a £100m transfer budget.
That is less than the £143million transfer sum he spent last summer on players such as Wesley, Trezeguet, Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa.
One player linked with a potential move to Villa Park is Belgian striker Origi, who has been playing a bit-part role for Premier League champions Liverpool. The 25-year-old netted four goals and supplied three assists for Jurgen Klopp’s side during the 2019/20 season, but added a Premier League title to a CV which also included the Champions League medal that he won last year after his goal helped the Reds to victory in the final.
Reacting to the potential signing of Origi, these Villa fans took to @villareport to give their opinions on the striker:
Does he have pace – please go for pace – Abraham’s, Eze, Benrahma, Watkins, Starr, Brooks, Rodriguez

Origi’s in the first team squad of the English, European and world champions. Not first choice striker but he gets decent game time, and no doubt on a massive salary. Id make our chances slim to none. He’s 25 and tipped for a possible move this summer but not Villa, I suspect

He plays EVERY ball backwards.
Yes, he’s popped up in the right place at the right time on a few occasions, but we’d be lucky to get five goals and five assists out of him as a wide forward. Maybe ten goals and a few assists as a 9.
Not the right signing IMO.

This is definitely not true. The Sun reporter has seen that Villa need a striker and that Origi is for sale and then linked them because of that. Never trust The Sun.

Wesley is a carthorse! DS needs to get rid of 4-5 players who didn’t perform.need proven prem players. £25m+ bracket. Top striker!! Absolute must-have!

I like this link. Ings went from being a bitpart Liverpool sub to one of the top strikers in the league. Origi could be similar. Plus I’ll always have a soft spot for Belgian powerhouse forwards.
