Several Aston Villa fans believe the club are making the right move by not targeting Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah this month.
The 20-year-old had been linked with a move to Villa Park by the Daily Mail. However, according to The Telegraph‘s John Percy, he is not currently on the Premier League outfit’s radar. Rather, the likes of Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday are said to be the ones leading the race for his signature.
Villa boss Dean Smith is looking to bring in a new No.9 following the injury to Wesley, but it seems Nketiah is not a candidate to come in and deputise for the Brazilian. And looking at WhoScored, you can see why.
Winning just 0.5 aerial duels per game in the Championship this season, Nketiah would not have exactly been a like-for-like replacement for Wesley, who is averaging 3.3 per game in the Premier League. The Arsenal youngster, however, has obviously not featured as often as Wesley this term, hence the premature ending of his loan spell at Leeds United.
Whatever the case, these Villa supporters are pleased to see that Smith is looking at other targets…

Good, can’t be signing a player who couldn’t even get a game for Leeds in the championship

Thank god

Good, not proven enough for my liking. Would be happy with a loan for him if he’s deputising someone experience. But if we loan him then we can’t loan anyone else from the Prem as we’d use up our slots

Good, not saying he’s a bad player but not what we need
