England moved a step closer to confirming their place at Euro 2020 with a commanding 6-0 win against Bulgaria in Sofia on Monday.

It was a match which was marred by racist chanting from some of the Bulgaria fans, but on the pitch there were plenty of positives for Gareth Southgate as his side bounced back from defeat against the Czech Republic.
One major plus point to come out of it was the performance of centre-back Tyrone Mings, who was making his Three Lions debut.
England have struggled defensively recently, but looked much more solid with Mings partnering Harry Maguire as they managed to claim a first clean sheet in three games.
The Aston Villa defender looked assured on the ball and finished the game with a very strong 95.5% passing accuracy. Added to that he also made one successful tackle, one interception and one clearance in the 90 minutes, whilst also showing some attacking talent too by completing two successful dribbles (via WhoScored).
Whilst it does have to be taken into account that England’s opponents were not great, it was still an assured debut from Mings and something to build on in their next qualifiers against Montenegro and Kosovo.
Villa fans were delighted that their defender played for England and were quick to offer him praise for his performance after the game on Twitter…
Well played Tyrone, great performance that tonight. Congrats!

Outstanding. He looked like the regular centre half rather than Maguire. Also dealt with the haters brilliantly.
