Aston Villa fans were professing their love for Alan Hutton after the former Villa Park favourite announced his retirement from professional football.
The Scotland international made over 200 appearances for the Midlands club after joining in the summer of 2011 (via Transfermarkt). He played across the top two divisions of English football and helped the Villains gain promotion back to the Premier League last season. However, he was without a club following the expiration of his contract following last season’s playoff win and has since taken the decision to hang up his boots.
One fan labelled him as a ‘prince’.

He was a fan-favourite among the Villa faithful with his most memorable memory coming in the Midlands derby against Birmingham during the 2018/2019 campaign. After receiving the ball in his own half, the 35-year-old then went on a solo run which ended with his slotting home (via BBC). Fans were left wishing the former fullback well after his announcement.
