Aston Villa: Fans puzzled by what club have reportedly promised Pepe Reina

Several Aston Villa fans are puzzled by the first-team guarantee Pepe Reina has reportedly been given ahead of his imminent move to the club.

According to Sky Sports Italia (via Sport Witness), the Villans have a deal in place to bring the Spaniard to Villa Park on loan from AC Milan. This comes after the long-term injury to first-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton. Despite that, it has been reported that Reina still needed convincing.

Sky Sports Italia, however, claim that problem was solved once Reina was guaranteed first-team football. Such a development, though, has left some Villa supporters asking plenty of questions. Orjan Nyland, who has deputised for the injured Heaton, has done a good job between the sticks (before the Manchester City game anyway!), which is why a portion of fans cannot accept the above.

In Villa’s recent 1-1 draw with Leicester City in the Carabao Cup, the 29-year-old earned a 7.6 match rating on WhoScored after managing to make five saves. Taking such a performance into account, some quite clearly feel Nyland is being overlooked amid Dean Smith’s goalkeeper dilemma.

Take a look at what some Villa supporters had to say below…
