Having lost four of the last six games, Aston Villa are certainly in a miserable position in the Premier League. Indeed, Dean Smith’s side were on the end of a vintage Manchester City display at Villa Park, with the champions running out 6-1 winners. Sergio Aguero bagged yet another hat-trick, making him the league’s most prolific foreign player of all time, as well as the man with the most hat-tricks.
Aguero, a prolific striker, is everything Villa seemingly clamour for this January. After Wesley’s season was ended by a crunching Ben Mee tackle in the win over Burnley, the club have been linked with moves for players such as Olivier Giroud, Krzysztof Piątek and Glenn Murray.
Furthermore, The Athletic are reporting that Christian Benteke has been offered to the club. Obviously, the Belgian was a major figure for the Midlands giants during his stint there between 2012 and 2015, bagging 49 goals in 100 games before leaving for Liverpool, as per Transfermarkt.
However, despite his previous success, the former Villa man currently at Crystal Palace, isn’t the name some of the faithful were hoping to hear, given the fact he’s scored just four goals over the last two-and-a-half-seasons. With that in mind, here’s how some of them reacted to the news:
