Aston Villa put in a spirited performance to earn a 1-1 draw against Premier League high-flyers Leicester at the King Power Stadium in the Carabao Cup.
Frederic Guilbert gave them an early lead in the first half, before a Kelechi Iheanacho equaliser left the tie delicately poised heading into the second leg at Villa Park.
Amidst a season of relegation fears, Villa are potentially 90 minutes away from a cup final against one of the Manchester clubs at Wembley, quite the achievement for Dean Smith’s men.
A key component of their draw with Leicester was England international defender Tyrone Mings, who made 10 clearances for his side, per SofaScore.
Mings sustained an injury in the last fixture between the sides, which led to a five-game lay-off in December, which was costly for his side.
In that time, Villa suffered defeats to Southampton, Sheffield United and Watford, worsening their plight in the relegation battle.
