Aston Villa fans have reacted to the club’s decision to hand duo Pepe Reina and Danny Drinkwater extensions to their current loan deals.
The Claret and Blue side remain sat in the relegation places of the Premier League having struggled to find form since the restart.
Dean Smith’s side, who lost 1-0 in the Midlands derby to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, will look to their whole squad to chip in as the club’s top flight status remains up in the air.
Two of those players with much experience are Reina and Drinkwater, having had varied success with the likes of Liverpool and Leicester City, respectively.
With the pandemic causing a delay in fixtures and the restart now back in full swing, Villa have now reportedly extended the loan deal of Reina and are close to agreeing an extension with Chelsea for Drinkwater, which will see them continue at the club until the Premier League season comes to an end.
Spanish stopper Reina has struggled to get himself back into the Villa starting eleven since the restart, playing second fiddle to Orjan Nyland, whilst Drinkwater has played a minimal part.
