Aston Villa: Fans react as Jack Grealish makes his competitive debut for England

Share

Many Aston Villa fans have been wanting to see Jack Grealish play competitively for England for a while and after three friendly appearances, the midfielder finally was given a start in the Nations League clash against Belgium.

There is no doubt that the 25-year-old impressed when featuring in the friendlies as he assisted two goals (Transfermarkt).

The result in the game against Belgium sadly didn’t go England’s way as they lost 2-0. However, many viewers were quick to praise the performance of Grealish and he picked up the second best rating out of the Three Lions squad. Jamie Redknapp and Ashley Cole were full of praise for the Villa captain, with Redknapp calling him ‘the best player on the pitch’, whilst Cole said he was ‘running the show’.

It is easy to see why he receive such praise, as he won 11 ground duels, completed four successful dribbles and made two key passes (SofaScore).

With a performance like the one he put in, there should be no way that Southgate can overlook him for the next internationals.
