Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to comments made by Matt Targett after the 1-1 draw with Everton on Thursday evening.
Dean Smith’s side are struggling to get themselves out of the bottom three in the Premier League and, with just two games remaining in the season, time is running out in their relegation battle.
Beating Crystal Palace 2-0 last weekend saw Villa head to Goodison Park to meet Carlo Ancelotti’s side with a certain level of optimism which would have grown after Ezri Konsa excellently tapped home a cross from midfielder Conor Hourihane with just under 20 minutes remaining.
However, despite Villa’s best attempts to hold on to their lead, Theo Walcott’s looping head in the final 10 minutes saw the visitors miss out on two vital points.
Following the game, Targett, who returned to the starting line-up after a recent injury, spoke after the game in a video which was shared via the club’s official Twitter account.
