Jack Grealish was able to score a consolation goal in Aston Villa’s 3-1 defeat to Southampton over the weekend, and the club’s official Twitter account was quick to highlight how great of a strike it was afterwards.
It is probably fair to say, though, that it has not quite had the desired effect on supporters, with plenty of them flocking to the tweet to reply in a very negative manner.
Unsurprisingly, some Villa fans are just not happy right now. Dean Smith’s side are now in the relegation zone after yet another defeat and take on another relegation rival next when they host Norwich City. Lose that, and the Midlands club could be in real trouble heading into the new year.
Considering all of that, it is not hard to see why fans were not exactly jumping for joy after the club shared a clip of a goal that proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
You can have a look at how they responded to the club’s tweet of Grealish’s goal below…
We shouldn’t be praising this. It was a brilliant goal but nothing from yesterday deserves any public praise at all.

Doesn’t mean anything now performance was dire,Jack’s not controlling the game on the pitch as a Captain should do,players look lacklustre and disinterested and Smith has a system that has now been found out we are in trouble and everyone can see it bar Smith

He’ll be scoring goals like that against us in the new year if we don’t get some wins in the next couple weeks
