Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to an update on the future of Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
The 22-year-old striker arrived on a season-long loan at Villa Park in the summer of 2018 and played an important part in the Midlands club’s promotion to the Premier League. After netting an impressive 26 goals in 41 games for Villa, Abraham returned to Stamford Bridge and and has featured regularly under Blues manager Frank Lampard during the 2019/20 season.
A return of 14 goals in the Premier League has seen Abraham become a key player for Chelsea but his future is now starting to come under question with the arrival of German striker Timo Werner. Abraham is now said to have turned down a fresh contract offer from Chelsea, as per Birmingham Live, with an article from Ben Husband stating that the news “will interest Aston Villa”.
Villa sit in the bottom three of the Premier League at the present time, with manager Dean Smith having struggled to find a regular goal-scorer this term – midfielders Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane are their only players with more than six goals in 2019/20 (as per Transfermarkt).
Reacting to a tweet shared by Aston Villa News, these fans of the club gave a varied response on a potential return for Abraham:
I think he would of joined Villa if Chelsea hadn’t had the transfer ban,he can now see Chelsea will buy other players and put him down in the pecking order
