Aston Villa: Fans react to Callum O’Hare’s pending exit

Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a claim by journalist Gregg Evans that youngster Callum O’Hare has not been offered a new contract.

The Villa academy star will see his current deal come to an end this summer after spending the last 12 months on loan with newly promoted Championship side Coventry City.

Helping the Sky Blues to a successful promotion from League One to England’s second flight, the young midfielder performed well, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in the process.

The youngster’s impressions at Coventry has recently seen  reports of a potential permanent move to Mark Robins’ side develop.

Having reportedly already turned down numerous approaches to renew terms at his boyhood club, it has now been claimed that he is free to leave come June 30.

That decision by Villa, if true, will hand Coventry a boost in their plans to keep the midfielder at the club through to next season.

Also, free to leave Villa Park are young striker Rushian Hepburn Murphy, who spent last term on loan with Derby County, and Jake Doyle-Hayes.

O’Hare has appeared nine times in total for Aston Villa’s first team, making a further 61 appearances for the club’s under-23 setup.

Reacting to the claim by Evans, fans gave their opinion on O’Hare’s pending exit. The majority seem confused as to why the club are allowing the player to leave given his positive contributions for Coventry, with one suggesting he will become ‘another Albrighton’ – a player who was allowed to leave by Villa and who went on to better things with Leicester, winning a league title.
