Aston Villa: Fans react to Gregg Evans tweet about the January transfer window

Aston Villa are enjoying their season so far, and with the January transfer window approaching, supporters have been reacting to an update from journalist Gregg Evans.

The writer for The Athletic tweeted: “Expecting a quiet January at #AVFC unless there are any injuries. Maybe one addition.”

In his article, he mentions that the club will look for a forward who is also capable of playing out wide. Joshua King looks to be their main candidate for this role, having been linked with a number of top flight clubs over the summer.

The Norwegian has a very good goal scoring record at his current club AFC Bournemouth. He has played 176 times and scored 50 goals whilst also picking up 17 assists (Transfermarkt).

With striker Keinan Davis only playing twice in the Premier League this campaign, whilst Wesley is still out injured, it leaves Villa with only one other striker in Ollie Watkins. Therefore a signing like King would be a great acquisition and would add some great quality to the squad.

Here is what Villa fans have said following the transfer update:

Seems quite sensible if we get King in, I was worried about CB cover but that’s now put to bed with Hause displays. Maybe a new left back to keep Targett on his toes.

King would be awesome

Really good read 👍🏼 I agree possibly one quality top up would work for us, especially seeing how it took time for us acclimatise to not having Barkley

Wouldn’t mind King at the Villa, should look at strengthening our Full Back options though 👍🏻

Buendia would have been my choice in the summer, but won’t leave Norwich now they are flying high. Trying to get out of the buy back clause for Douglas Luiz has to be a priority.

Beunida from Norwich could be a shout
