Aston Villa: Fans react to Jack Grealish post-match footage

Aston Villa fans aired their feelings for Jack Grealish after post-match footage from yesterday’s Carabao Cup final surfaced on social media, showing his heartbreaking reaction to the defeat at Wembley.

The videos show Grealish lying on the pitch with his arms over his face following Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City yesterday (BBC). Villa battled back to create a tense finish in North London, but early strikes from Sergio Aguero and Rodri were enough to give Man City their third straight EFL Cup win.

Grealish has been Villa’s top performer this season according to WhoScored, but with only 1 dribble and no shots in yesterday’s final, Villa’s star man went missing when it really mattered. The midfielder has earned plenty of plaudits this season, and as a result, Dean Smith has already conceded that Grealish’s future at Villa is dependent on their success over the next few months.

With the opportunity to win a major trophy now blown for Villa, Grealish could arguably be more likely to depart in the summer considering their position within the Premier League’s relegation zone amid reports linking with him Manchester United.
