Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to claim made by Tim Sherwood over the valuation of club captain Jack Grealish.
Grealish has had a good season for Villa despite the Midlands based club having struggles to find consistency in the Premier League.
Seven goals and six assists has seen the Birmingham born midfielder gain many plaudits and interest has followed from the likes of Manchester United.
With Villa desperately trying to keep their top-flight status alive over the last few weeks, Grealish’s performance against Arsenal proved a key one as a goal from winger Trezeguet secured all three points for Dean Smith’s side.
The win moved Villa out of the bottom three with one game to play, at West Ham United, and the 24-year-old’s performance has opened up a debate about his current valuation.
Valued £27.45m by website Transfermarkt, reports have also emerged that Villa would hold out for a figure in the region of £80m if summer interest developed.
Sherwood, who once managed the Claret and Blue side, has now added his thoughts, being quoted by BirminghamLIVE as saying:
“He creates a melee. Lots of players come around him and he releases the ball. You didn’t see the Arsenal players do that.
“I saw them paying £70 million for Nicolas Pepe. £70 million? Nicolas Pepe? If he’s £70 million, Jack Grealish is (worth) £170 million.”
Reacting to Sherwood’s claim that Grealish is worth £170m, fans reacted via Twitter account @villareport, who shared the comments. Some loved it, suggesting that he was driving up the price that Manchester United would have to pay for him, whilst others disagreed, saying that he ‘doesn’t have a clue about football’ – perhaps due to his woeful record in the dugout at Villa Park.
Tim Sherwood greasing the wheels for a second go round with Villa 😂

Grealish – 9 goals 6 assists in all comps
Pepe – 9 goals 8 assists in all compsSherwood just reminding everyone why he doesn’t have a clue about football. The man lost 16 out of 28 games with Villa and will be remembered for one of the worst managers ever!

I’d thank Sherwood for helping to drive Man U’s price up if I didn’t think they already have a deal in place.

Jack was the best player last night by miles. He was class above anyone else on that pitch. Well Pepe is not worth £70 (pounds). Jack is classes above Pepe. So Sherwood was telling it as it is. Jack has carried Villa for past 2 seasons. The season didn’t start a few weeks ago.🤔
