Aston Villa had a disastrous Sunday evening when they were battered 6-1 by Manchester City. Indeed, they were 4-0 down at half time and they had just one shot on target all game. As you can imagine, it didn’t go down well with the fans either, with many slamming their team’s performance after the final whistle.
According to WhoScored, City had 22 shots during the game and 71 per cent of possession, yet both teams made the same number of tackles, 15, and City actually made more fouls, 12 to Villa’s five. Obviously, those stats won’t be easy for Dean Smith to take, and he should now be starting to worry about how he plans on getting three points in the must-win games.
The club’s official Twitter account posted the news that the full-time whistle had blown, and the reaction was how you’d expect. Many fans chose to reply and tell the club how angry they were at the performance in a game where they weren’t expected to win, but at least put in a respectable showing for their supporters.
