Aston Villa’s capitulation against Arsenal yesterday has unsurprisingly left fans infuriated.
The Villans took the lead at the Emirates through midfielder John McGinn and looked as though they could be heading for three points in north London, especially after Gunners defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles was dismissed for a second yellow just before the break.
However, the hosts pulled themselves level just before the hour mark with a well-taken penalty converted by summer signing Nicolas Pepe. That lead lasted all of one minute, however, as Villa’s own new recruit, Wesley, stabbed home from close-range after some good build-up play from Jack Grealish on the left-hand side.
Still, two goals in quick succession in the final 10 minutes from Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sealed an unlikely comeback for Arsenal, which saw Villa’s wait for a second win in the Premier League go on for another week at least.
Villa fans have been left angered by their sides lack of game management, with many holding manager Dean Smith to blame..
