Dean Smith has made no mistakes in prioritising his defence in the current January window. Having already brought in both Kourtney Hause and Lovre Kalinic at centre-back and in goal, he’s now looking to bring in a left-back. That’s where Tyrone Mings comes in, and according to Football Insider, the Villains have mad an approach for him.

Tyrone Mings joined Bournemouth the season after the Cherries were promoted, and whilst he was touted as the club’s future left-back, injuries have blighted his time at the Vitality Stadium. His £8 million move is now looking like a failure, however, Mings is only 25-years-old and could be set to get his career back on track, something that a successful loan move at Villa Park could help him do.
Mings has the versatility to feature as both a centre-back and a left-back, but it is the latter that the Villains would want to see from the Premier League man. At the moment they have just Neil Taylor for the role, and even though Mings has suffered a couple of major knee injuries, they want to see the 25-year-old step into their promotion-chasing side as they aim for the playoffs, even though he’s played just 320 minutes of football this season.
