When Dean Smith brought in Kortney Hause in January on a loan deal, a lot of the Villains weren’t too pleased. The Wolves man wasn’t viewed as worth the wages, and after a horror show of a debut off the bench in a 3-0 defeat to Wigan they looked to have been proved right, however, he’s upped his game since then and at Stoke, he proved his worth.

After failing to make a single Premier League appearance for Wolves in the first half of the season despite making the bench 11 times, the 23-year-old was tempted by Dean Smith’s lure of first-team football, and whilst his start was unconvincing he’s had the Villa fans eating humble pie after his impressive display at the Bet 365 Stadium helped to earn the Villains a valuable point.
Not only did the defender’s display help to show what he’s capable of, but it also hit home how good of a job Dean Smith can do when it comes to helping players improve. If the ex-Brentford man can have the same impact on others that he’s having on Hause then promotion next season isn’t off the table, and if Hause can continue in his current vein of form then the fans will be calling for him to be a permanent signing over the summer.

The Villains loved Hause’s dominant display on Saturday and will be keen to see the same from the defender on Saturday when they face an out-of-sorts Derby County.
