Aston Villa: Fans urge club to keep hold of Keinan Davis

Keinan Davis

Some Aston Villa fans are urging the club to retain the services of Keinan Davis beyond this season.

The 22-year-old’s contract is up in the summer but, despite his injury problems this term, several supporters are eager for him to stay. They believe he should be offered a new contract, with one person stating that keeping him and a few other Villa youngsters is a “no-brainer”.

Davis is yet to score in the Premier League this season, but you can still understand the supporter’s thinking. The striker has found the back of the net in the Carabao Cup and has some very decent offensive averages in the league.

According to WhoScored, he is averaging 0.9 dribbles per game — more than Wesley (0.6) and Mbwana Samatta (n/a) — and boasts a pass success rate of 83.3%, the sixth highest in the squad. Being able to beat players and keep hold of the ball, Davis does not look like a terrible attacking option to have.

It is perhaps a sentiment these Villa fans share as they took to Twitter to express their desire for him to stay. Take a look at what they have been saying below…

OHare, KD, and Green. Even if they don't end up being Premier league quality, feel like we could get something back selling to a Championship club. Would keep all 3 if we go down.

We buy keepers like they’re going out of fashion so keep Sarkic.

Davis, O’Hare & Green just need to be given a place in the first team squad.

The rest are better than Trezeguet & Lansbury so renew them too.

Renew all. However probably just be Ohare and Davis.

Davis , O’Hare , Green , Sarkic (probably), Hepburn-Murphy (probably not), Doyle-Hayes (probably not)

Keep ohare davis green.. others can go . We have a few coming through so we will always have some young local talent on the books but if they are not the quality we need then keeping them is unfair

Let RH-M and JD-H go. Won’t get to the required level. The other 4 MIGHT and therefore should be handed another couple of years. Not massive money, so no brainer really.
