Everton are confident they can sign Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish in the summer, according to an exclusive from Football Insider via the Daily Star, prompting angry responses from a large section of the Villa Park faithful.
The Birmingham Mail adds Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the club captain as a priority target for Manchester United, given his impressive attacking performances, despite Villa’s struggles in the Premier League this season.
Grealish has made 26 appearances in the English top flight for the Claret and Blue, netting 7 goals, creating 6 assists, taking 2.1 shots per game, completing 2.7 key passes on average, and averaging 2.2 dribbles this campaign (data supplied by WhoScored).
The 24-year-old has been widely tipped to join United in the upcoming transfer window, but it appears Ed Woodward could face stiff competition from Carlo Ancelotti’s Blues.
While the report will no doubt raise a few eyebrows, it is worth remembering that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has a hefty bank balance at his disposal. The British-Iranian businessman has a total net worth of $2.3bn, as stated by Forbes, and he is no stranger to splashing the cash, having spent an estimated £450m during his time in charge of the Toffees.
Either way, it looks like Villa fans will have to resign themselves to the fact the academy product will be leaving Birmingham before the start of next season, although it remains to be seen if the Englishman will end up at Old Trafford or Goodison Park.
Unsurprisingly, loads of Villans took to Twitter to react to the latest update, with some supporters branding the reports as “rubbish” and “ridiculous.” Another even slammed Everton’s link to Grealish as a “joke.”

Buying Everton would be cheaper than buying Grealish. Grealish to Everton = Fake news.

Jack doesn’t need a stepping stone to play for a big club so Everton news is a joke. Gueye wasn’t the player Jack is and so used Everton to get a big club fact.
