Aston Villa will announce their 2022/23 season ticket prices soon, however they are not likely to be frozen, according to Ashley Preece.

The Lowdown: Stadium plans

Villa chief executive Christian Purslow recently shared the club’s plans to redevelop Villa Park. The club, who are preparing to back Steven Gerrard in the transfer window ahead of his first full season in charge, are aiming to take Villa Park’s capacity beyond 50,000 with work to the North Stand.

Plans are set to be submitted this summer, and Purslow also added that Villa are looking to upgrade the hospitality areas in the Trinity Stand in the future.

The Latest: Season-ticket increase

Preece took to Twitter on Thursday to react to Villa’s hospitality plans in the Trinity Stand.

He added that ‘Villa will also announce 22/23 season-ticket pricing soon’, revealing in a story for Birmingham Live that they look set to rise in price.

The Verdict: Concerning

An announcement is expected in the coming weeks, with Villa having over 20,000 fans on the waiting list for a season ticket. As Preece mentions in his article, Villa’s most-expensive adult season ticket costs £684 and the cheapest £370, so this update isn’t ideal news for those who are looking to renew.

What is promising is that the club are looking to expand Villa Park’s capacity, but hopefully the rise in ticket prices ahead of the 2022/23 campaign isn’t astronomical given the cost of living crisis sweeping the country.
