Many Aston Villa fans are fuming with the performance Ahmed Elmohamady during the Premier League match against Leeds United.
The right-back filled in for Matty Cash who is out with an injury. Cash, who signed from Championship side Nottingham Forest in the summer (Transfermarkt), has been a revelation for Villa and has been crucial to the club picking up 12 clean sheets in the Premier League so far – now 13 after the win against Leeds.
It was already very noticeable with him not in the side when the Egyptian started against Leicester and now it seems like it has happened again, with many fans flooding to Twitter to slate him during the match on Saturday evening. One fan went so far as to call him ‘shocking’.
The criticism may be somewhat unfair as the 33 year-old is coming to the end of his career and Dean Smith buying another right-back in the summer highlights that they only wanted to use Elmohamady in emergency circumstances, but that hasn’t stopped fans from making their feelings known.
Here is how fans reacted to his performance:
“Elmo’s positioning is so so bad, surely kessler is a better shout for the Sheffield game”
“Elmo has been good for us over the years but he is so far off being a good premier league right back now.”
“Elmo out of position every time Raphinha gets the ball”
“Getting exposed all the time down Elmo’s side …worrying”
“Elmohamady is shocking can’t wait to let him go this summer. Not good enough”
“Elmohamady always looks so lost”
