Many Aston Villa fans are fuming at West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jake Livermore following his tackle on Jack Grealish in the West Midlands derby.
The Englishman was the captain for the Baggies and his red card would not have been what new manager Sam Allardyce would have wanted to see.
Dean Smith’s side had earlier took the lead thanks to a goal from Anwar El Ghazi. This may have frustrated Livermore and it looked like he decided to take out his frustration on captain Jack Grealish half an hour after the strike.
At first, the referee only gave a yellow card for the challenge, but VAR changed it into a red card which was the right decision. One fan called the tackle ‘shocking’. Villa fans are understandably not happy with the West Brom midfielder as Grealish is key for the club.
In the eleven matches he has played this season before the West Brom game, the 25 year-old has picked up five goals and five assists. (WhoScored). He has also managed on average 3.3 shots, 3.2 key passes and three dribbles a game. Therefore, if the Livermore tackle had injured him, it would have been a huge blow for the club and their battle for a top half finish this campaign.
