Many Aston Villa fans are not happy with the performance of Tyrone Mings as the club lost to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
He was at fault for United’s first goal as he was caught flat-footed, allowing Anthony Martial to score in the first half with a stooping header (SofaScore). The 27 year-old picked up the third-worst rating out of anyone in the Villa starting eleven (6.7). Despite making five clearances, he lost his only ground duel, two out of three aerial duels (losing 75% of his overall duels) and lost possession nine times, (SofaScore).
Defenders can’t have poor performances against a very in-form Red Devils side, and clearly many of the Villa fan base believe Mings did just that. One supporter even called him a ‘liability’.
Dean Smith will be hoping that the Englishman turns things around as their next two games see them play Liverpool in the FA Cup and then Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
Here is what Villa fans said about Mings:
“I know I’ll get slated for this but when will people start to see Mings can be a liability – clearly believing his own press.”
“He’s not wrong? Traore has been awful so has mings”
“What the hell was Mings trying to do there? That’s poor!”
“Mings just seems to have become abit more clumsy this season”
“That’s why I would have left Mings on the bench. For me, he’s always good for a mistake which creates a goal scoring chance for the opposition. #avfc“
“Unpopular opinion but it truly baffles me how Mings is an England player #avfc“
