Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is a long-term target for Arsenal.

That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, which, as to be expected, has had a number of Villa fans talking on social media.

Luiz, who was linked with a move to AS Roma over the summer, has been a regular under Steven Gerrard in recent months, missing just one Premier League game under the Villa boss.

Out of contract in 2023, the 23-year-old has seen his market value rocket from £9m to £31.5m during his time as a Villa player and is seemingly catching the eye of Mikel Arteta.

According to reliable reporter Ornstein, Luiz, along with RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams and Wolves’ Ruben Neves, is a long-term midfield target, while a new forward is Arsenal’s main focus in the final days of the current window.

Villa fans react

The AVFC Faithful relayed Ornstein’s claim regarding Luiz on Twitter. This is what these Villa supporters had to say in reply, with split views and one labelling it as ‘interesting’, given their past dealings with the Gunners involving Emile Smith-Rowe.
