Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez had to be stretchered off the pitch late on Tuesday evening while on international duty with Argentina.

And, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans shared their concern regarding the 28-year-old on social media.

The shot-stopper made the move to Villa Park last summer and kept 15 clean sheets in his debut season and was also named as Villa’s Supporters' Player of the Season.

Martinez lost consciousness in Argentina’s 2-2 World Cup qualifier with Colombia following a collision with Everton’s Yerry Mina.

The Villa number one landed heavily after colliding with Mina and slammed the back of his head and neck against the pitch on landing.

Martinez had lengthy treatment before being replaced by FC Porto’s Agustin Marchesin, however, he has since reassured supporters his injury was nothing serious.
