Aston Villa confirmed on Thursday afternoon that captain Tyrone Mings has been included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming international break.

And, as to be expected, a number of Villa supporters have been giving their thoughts to the news on social media.

Mings, who has played 15 times for his country, will be Villa’s only representative, with Ollie Watkins left out for Marcus Rashford.

The 28-year-old Mings was dropped by Dean Smith in last weekend’s defeat to West Ham but came back into the starting line up on Friday evening against Southampton.

He couldn’t prevent Villa from suffering a fifth straight loss prior to the international break, though, with the defender's attention now on World Cup qualifiers with Albania and San Marino.

Villa fans react

This is what these Villa fans had to say in reply to the club’s official post regarding Mings, with many sharing their positive thoughts.

However, some supporters were confused over his inclusion, with one ‘baffled’.
