Aston Villa: Garth Crooks suggests Emiliano Martinez is too good for the club

Aston Villa are having a very good season and will be hoping they can continue in the same form and finish in the top half this season. A lot of this has been down to Emiliano Martinez and he has received a lot of praise from Garth Crooks.
Crooks raves over Martinez
Crooks picked the Argentinian in his Team of the Week for BBC Sport following a superb performance against Brighton, saying: “The save from Leandro Trossard in the early exchanges of this match against Brighton gave some indication of the sort of form Martinez is in at the moment.
“My particular favourite was the save from Dan Burn, whose header looked a certain goal had it not been for Martinez’s athleticism. Joel Veltman was the next to be denied, followed by an extraordinary save from an exquisite Danny Welbeck flick at the near post that caught everyone by surprise apart from Martinez. The Argentine is looking every bit a top-four keeper and if he can’t achieve it with Villa I suggest he does it with someone else.”
These comments show how good a signing Martinez is
The former Arsenal shot-stopper has been a stand-out performer for the club since signing in the summer and has received a lot of praise. Pundit Michael Brown said: “He’s going so well, he’s got that confidence and it just looks like a brilliant signing.”
Indeed his stats before the game against West Ham show why he has been a “brilliant signing”. In his 22 appearances this season, he has made 84 saves and kept twelve clean sheets (Premier League) – this is the second most clean sheets in the division.
All associated with the club will have seen the performances from the £16.2m-rated goalkeeper this season and will feel blessed to see him in a Villa shirt, however the suggesting that he should move on will not go down well will the Villa faithful.
Arguably Martinez is in a great position, he is at a club battling for a surprising European spot and is consistently playing to a top level. With him just signing for the club in the summer, it would be very unlikely that he moves on unless a ridiculous transfer offer comes in for him.
