Many Aston Villa fans have been discussing the club’s links with a move for Brazilian forward Alex Teixeira.
Spanish outlet Fichajes have recently published an article talking about Teixeira’s future. They state that the Brazilian could well be on his way to a European club following his exit from Chinese outfit Jiangsu Suning. Currently a free agent, the likes of Villa, Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk are all said to be eyeing a move for the Brazilian forward.
Would Teixeira be a Watkins back-up?
The report states that Villa could well be ready to offer a two-year deal to Teixeira and could have the option of adding another year in the contract in the future. Shakhtar meanwhile, could make him feel comfortable, being his former club and they would also bring the guarantee of regular European football. Benfica also believe that the Brazilian could contribute a lot to helping them achieve their aspirations, both in Europe and domestically.
For Suning, Teixeira had a pretty good goal contributions record. He contributed to 116 goals in just 153 appearances for the Chinese side. Even for Shakhtar in the past, he scored 89 goals and got 25 assists for the Ukrainian outfit in 222 appearances (as per Transfermarkt).
This shows that he’s a proficient goal scorer and creator. This update about Villa’s interest in Teixeira was relayed on Twitter by Aston Villa News. Many fans made their views clear about it.
What did Villa fans make of these links with Teixeira?
“Can’t see it but would be a good stop gap while Wesley gets back to fitness, a deal until the end of the season.”
“Providing wages wasn’t ridiculous wouldn’t be a bad shout until end of season, need back up upfront and experience is always great to add.“
