John McGinn has been included in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Month, having seamlessly adapted to life in England’s top tier.
Villa may have struggled for results this campaign, having got three points from four league games, but there are signs of positive performances, with Tyrone Mings also being recognised after receiving his first England call-up.
The club’s official Twitter account has put out a post congratulating the Scotsman on his achievement:
Congratulations to @JMcGinn7 who has been named in @WhoScored‘s #PL Team of the Month for August. #AVFC https://t.co/8wkeWEhLYm pic.twitter.com/E2LKHc9IFx

The Villa man features in midfield alongside Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, having amassed an average rating of 7.5.
Indeed, the 24-year-old scored Villa’s first goal back in the Premier League, though he has also impressed outside of that, averaging 1.5 key passes, 1.8 dribbles, 1 cross, 4.3 tackles, 1 interception and 0.8 clearances per game – which highlights just how integral he has been all over the pitch.
