Aston Villa’s push for Champions League football remains firmly on track as they sit fifth in the Premier League with just two matches left to play.
Thanks to strong English performances in Europe this season, the Premier League is set to benefit from an additional Champions League qualification spot, meaning the top five will secure a place in next season’s competition.
However, even if Villa achieve their European ambitions, there is a growing possibility they may have to do so without one of their key midfield figures next season.
Tielemans Could Leave Villa
Youri Tielemans is emerging as a potential summer departure from Aston Villa, with several top European clubs already monitoring his situation closely.
The Belgian midfielder has been a key component of Unai Emery’s squad, contributing consistently throughout the campaign and maintaining his reputation as one of the more technically reliable midfielders in the Premier League.
However, reports suggest a significant offer could tempt Villa into considering a sale, particularly given ongoing financial pressures that may require the club to balance the books before strengthening the squad.
Former Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that while Emery would prefer to keep Tielemans, circumstances could force a difficult decision.
“There’s been lots of talk that Aston Villa could lose players,” Brown said. “Tielemans is one who stands out in that regard because he has been so impressive. There are a number of European clubs looking at him because he’s very highly regarded and has an excellent reputation, so if he’s available then there will be suitors.”
He added: “If he goes to the World Cup and has a strong tournament, that’s going to invite even more interest, and it could be difficult for Villa to keep him.”
With interest expected to intensify depending on Tielemans’ performances on the international stage, Villa may soon be faced with a key decision over whether to cash in or resist offers in what could be another busy summer at Villa Park.
