French media publication L’Equipe, as reported by TEAMtalk, have claimed that Aston Villa will confirm a deal to bring in Lyon striker Bertrand Traore this Friday.
Last season proved a tricky one for Villa boss Dean Smith, who saw the likes of Mbwana Samatta, Keinan Davis and Wesley all struggle to find goal-scoring form.
Moving to improve his attacking options this term, Smith hauled in 26 goal Championship striker Ollie Watkins, who signed on the dotted line from Brentford.
To add to Watkins’ arrival, Villa have since been linked with Lyon striker Traore, with a BBC report claiming that talks are underway over a £19m transfer.
The ex-Chelsea man has scored 33 goals during his time with Lyon, appearing 126 times for last season’s Champions League semi-finalists and L’Equipe are now claiming that a completed deal could be announced on Friday.
Reacting to the news that Traore’s deal could be announced on Friday, Villa fans gave a mixed reaction via Twitter account @villareport. Whilst some were buzzing with their new arrival, others didn’t seem as keen on the player – perhaps due to the fact that he only scored one Ligue 1 goal in the 19/20 season.
Love it 💪
