Aston Villa had been linked to Emiliano Buendia in the past, however the latest update suggests he will not be going anywhere in January.
The news on Buendia
The midfielder’s current manager Daniel Farke was recently speaking about the speculation around the player. He told the Pink Un, via Birmingham Live: “We are in a very good position approaching the halfway stage and selling (our star players) is not a topic for us. They will be important players as we look to build on the good start we have made. (Selling in January) is not something I am thinking about.”
Blow for Villa
Max Aarons has praised the creative Norwich star, as he said: “He’s tenacious and very strong. He’s got a lot of attributes.”
It is easy to see why he received such praise when you look at his performances this season. The 23 year-old has played 16 times in the Championship, scoring six and assisting six (WhoScored). He has been a huge creative threat for the Canaries as he has managed 2.9 shots, 3.2 key passes and 1.3 successful dribbles per game.
Villa currently have captain Jack Grealish – who actually boasts the same number of assists (6) – and Ross Barkley as their creative midfielders, but the latter is only on loan from Chelsea and it might be hard to get him on a permanent deal. Therefore an alternative to Barkley like Buendia could have been a great acquisition.
Despite the fact he will not be sold in January, it is definitely worth keeping an eye on him and if Norwich do not get promoted, it will be a lot easier for Villa to try and get him in the summer. However, the fact that they cannot add a creative player with bags of potential to their ranks in January is definitely a big blow.
