Aston Villa have had a great season so far, and with January coming up, they could strengthen their squad and to help them stay in the top half at the end of the season. They have been linked with a move for midfielder Matias Vecino.
The latest on Vecino
According to CalcioMercato, both Aston Villa and West Ham United have offers on the table to sign Inter Milan midfielder Vecino ahead of the January transfer window.
At the moment, it is uncertain as to whether the offers are for a loan deal or a permanent one.
Would this be a good signing?
The £14.40m-valued midfielder currently plays in the Serie A for Milan (Transfermarkt). In his whole career, he has 28 goals and 22 assists. Despite it looking, on paper, like a good deal as Villa would be picking up someone from a huge Italian side like Inter, the signing would probably not be a good one.
Dean Smith would essentially be picking up a player who is not match fit and it feels like a waste of money, especially when the club have the likes of Jack Grealish, Douglas Luiz, Ross Barkley and John McGinn.
Therefore, if the club were to sign Vecino, it feels like a waste of money and they should probably be looking to spend their money elsewhere, maybe on a player who is ready to come in and contribute straight away.
