Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis has struggled for game time this season due to form and injuries, and the latest reports suggest he could be on the way out soon.
The latest on Davis
According to Football Insider, Dean Smith has given the green light for Davis to go out on loan in January so that he can play more consistent football.
The only way that this would happen though is if fellow Villa striker Wesley fully recovers from the knee injury that has sidelined him for nearly a year.
Is this a good move?
The cruciate ligament rupture that Wesley suffered against Burnley has seen the Brazilian miss at least 40 games (366 days) (Transfermarkt).
Davis has only managed five goals in 72 appearances for the club so it was no surprise to see Smith move for Ollie Watkins.
This news now suggests that Smith sees Davis at the bottom of the pecking order and it would make sense for him to go out on loan so he can get some more form and confidence.
He has been praised by teammate Jack Grealish, who spoke about a past performance of the player as he said: “He was brilliant. I bet you there’s fans of ours who don’t know too much about him and fans who probably didn’t expect him to play.”
The move would also benefit Davis, as he is only 22. He shouldn’t see the loan as him being surplus to requirements but more as an opportunity to show the potential that has seen Villa stick with him for so long.
