Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

And, as to be expected, the latest transfer rumour has had a number of Villa supporters talking online.

According to Turkish media outlet Fotospor, relayed by Birmingham Live, the 25-year-old is attracting interest from Villa and a number of other sides across Europe.

Cakir, valued at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, has been a regular for Trabzonspor this season, captaining the Super Lig side on multiple occasions.

He’s kept 26 clean sheets in 111 appearances for Trabzonspor, with the latest report suggesting that £17m could be enough to land the Turkey international this summer.

Emiliano Martinez hasn’t missed a minute of Premier League action in his first season as a Villa player, with Dean Smith also having Tom Heaton and Jed Steer as back up.

Villa fans react

@AVFC_News shared the links to Cakir throughout Thursday on Twitter. This is what some Villa fans had to say in reply, with one describing the goalkeeper as 'fantastic'.

"Priorities tbh, no need to spend 17m on a sub keeper. Still got Steer & Kalinic if Heaton leaves"
