Aston Villa completed the signing of midfielder Finn Azaz from rivals West Brom on Monday evening.

And, as to be expected, a number of Villa fans shared their thoughts at the news on social media.

Azaz spent last season on loan at Cheltenham Town, helping them win the League Two title with 37 fourth-tier appearances.

The 20-year-old scored three times and provided two assists in all competitions for The Robins and Villa have already sorted out where the central midfielder will be plying his trade for the upcoming campaign.

Villa confirmed the signing of Azaz and announced he has immediately headed out on loan to League Two side Newport County.

Adam Henshall and Mile Jedinak will track Azaz’s development in Wales, with Villa academy manager Mark Harrison describing Azaz as a 'clever' and 'creative' player.

Villa fans react

"No offence at all to Finn but, this is a confusing signing. 20 years old. Where does he fit in? We were told the U23s are to be filled with top 18-19 year olds."

"Where exactly does he fit in? 20 years old and going out on loan to a league 2 team isn’t exactly exciting. Could be wrong tho"

"He’ll never make a 1st appearance so I just don’t get this signing. 20 years of age & his level is League 2…."
