Aston Villa fans in the Football Transfer Tavern hope their club sticks to their manager’s word after the Daily Star revealed that Paul Lambert is confident that he can keep hold of his most wanted players – Ron Vlaar, Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph.

With Aston Villa struggling for form this season, many punters have believe their stars can be easy targets for the top teams.

But Villa’s boss says he’s happy to put a ‘not for sale’ sign on the door as they prepare for the frantic January transfer window.

Benteke would appear to be attracting less interest after the Belgian international recently signed a new deal whilst Delph and Vlaar are still yet to commit their future.

And Villa’s owner Randy Lerner – who is looking to sell the club – has been told by Lambert that it would be crazy to sell the club’s most prized assets.

Lambert said: “The window doesn’t worry me. I don’t visualise anyone going at all, but Randy will have the final say on finances.

“He will always have the say on that but from a football point of view I’m really comfortable about not losing anybody in January.”
