Frank Lampard’s Derby County take on Dean Smith’s Aston Villa later on today, in what is a pivotal moment in the Championship season.
Lampard will be hoping to finish what has been a poor run of results against Aston Villa, where the club has only won three games in the last 10 against the Villains.
The most recent defeat came earlier this season with Lampard in charge where they crumbled to a 0-3 home defeat, which will only boost Villa’s confidence in doing the exact same to them again. Since that defeat, Derby have found it hard to put together a real winning run where they have only managed to string 2 wins back to back in that time.
With that in mind, here’s a look at a couple of reasons as to why Villa fans should be confident.
Villa Park atmosphere

Aston Villa will be well aware that with a win over Derby they will go within 3 points of the Rams. With this fact alone, we feel that the whole of Villa Park will be bouncing and pushing Derby into a hole while Villa can press high and give the defence a hard time and lead them to pick up some vital points.
However, Dean Smith will be cautious and worried that his Villa side haven’t picked up a win in their last 5 with their last coming on the 26.01.19 being a 2-1 win over Ipswich, he will be hoping that he can look to the past to motivate his side in stopping Derby taking any points at all.
Tammy Abraham

This tie promises to be an exciting one but due to previous meetings on more than one occasion, we feel that history will repeat itself and Villa will cause Derby more upset and dent their push for a play-off spot into further despair.
