As the Spanish hacks tuck into a Full English in The Transfer Tavern, we overhear talk of European giants Barcelona’s attempts to strengthen their defence at the Nou Camp.
The Marca newspaper says the Primera Liga champions are in negotiations with Ukranian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk over the signing of defender Dmytro Chygrynsky with a resolution expected “in the next few weeks.”
The report says: “Shakhtar Donetsk director Sergiy Palkin has admitted that when Barcelona want a player they usually get him.”
He confirmed that the Blaugrana’s offer was worth “slightly under €30 million.”
So was it water or vodka that led to this tale getting an airing? Could Barca boss Pep Guardiola be about to splash the cash on the Ukranian International? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
