Rangers: Borna Barisic back in training

Borna Barisic has been pictured in training ahead of Glasgow Rangers’ Europa League clash against Lech Poznan tonight.

Barisic trains

Barisic was forced off in the first half of the match against Standard Liege last week, which called for the introduction of Calvin Bassey. The latter also started against Livingston at the weekend.

However, Barisic has been pictured in training with the Ibrox outfit and should therefore be in contention to feature in Europe this week.

Gerrard should be wary

Of course, it is good news for Gerrard that Barisic is now available – it at least gives him another option when selecting his starting XI. However, he must be wary not to throw him straight into the starting line-up against the Polish outfit.

The last thing Gerrard wants is to see the Croatia international picking up an injury. The 27-year-old has encountered a number of problems over the past few weeks – he had an issue against Ross County, whilst he also missed two matches for his country during the international break.

In Bassey, the ‘Gers have a reliable replacement. He is more than capable of holding down the fort in Barisic’s absence, and also deserves the backing of his manager. As such, Gerrard must make sure the £3.6m-valued former NK Osijek man is fully fit if he selects him.

In other news, this ‘Gers cult hero admits he was confused when he was sold to the Premier League.
