The Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern want nothing more than to see Barkley shine in an Everton shirt…
Ross Barkley has been touted by our punters as the Premier League’s best young talent, and over the last few years – it’s been easy to see why.
Despite his tender years, Barkley has been competitive at the highest level for the past few seasons – with a technical style and physical frame far beyond his years.
However, over the past season or so – something hasn’t quite been right. He has been dropped a few times, and in truth – he hasn’t developed as expected.
Koeman has seen fit to place him on the bench a few times this year, and our landlord thinks that the Dutch boss is making a terrible mistake in doing so.
He thinks that Barkley simply must start every Everton game from now on – and here are his 2 reasons why…
Development

If Ross Barkley is going to develop, Ronald Koeman simply must give him game time.
Sitting on the bench isn’t going to help him develop, and in truth – he is seriously running out of time.
He is currently 22-years-old, and he is quickly proceeding past the ‘developmental’ stage and he is entering the prime of his career.
This could be a career-defining season – and he must play every week so that he can achieve his full potential.
Goal Threat

Whilst Ross Barkley has been a bit disappointing this season – he has still popped up with a few goals to help Everton’s cause.
He has bagged 2 goals in the Premier League and 1 in the League Cup – which is a pretty good return for this point in the season.
Barkley hasn’t been at his best, we all know that – but he has maintained a consistent goal threat and has played a role in front of goal all season.
If he isn’t at his best and is still getting results then Koeman simply must persist.
