Liverpool have endured a frustrating beginning to the Andoni Iraola era, drawing three of their opening four Premier League matches.
The results have been particularly disappointing given the Reds’ struggles in the final third. Liverpool have managed just six goals across those four league games, leaving plenty of questions over their attacking threat.
Now, one of Europe’s biggest clubs is reportedly keeping a close eye on a Liverpool star who has yet to consistently find his best form since arriving at Anfield.
Bayern Monitoring Florian Wirtz
Bayern Munich are reportedly monitoring Florian Wirtz’s situation at Liverpool, with the German giants keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder’s progress.
According to TEAMtalk, there is some concern within Liverpool that Wirtz has yet to produce the level of performances expected of him in the Premier League.
The Germany international joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025 after attracting interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Bayern.
Wirtz ultimately chose Anfield, but his adaptation to English football has not been as smooth as Liverpool would have hoped.
Despite the speculation, Liverpool have no current intention of selling the 23-year-old and remain confident that he can fulfil his potential on Merseyside.
Wirtz is also under contract until June 2030, giving Liverpool a strong position should Bayern or any other interested club attempt to make their interest concrete.
Liverpool icon Phil Thompson has previously described Wirtz as “incredible”, and the club will be hoping the midfielder can soon show exactly why he earned such high praise.
For now, Bayern’s interest appears to be at the monitoring stage, but Wirtz’s performances will certainly be worth watching as the season develops.
