The Irons faithful in the Transfer Tavern are praying for a morale-boosting victory for their side when they face London-rivals Tottenham on Wednesday night.
Slaven Bilic takes his West Ham side to Wembley this week fully aware that his future is hanging finely in the balance on the back of their latest Premier League defeat against Brighton. The defeat has pushed Bilic one step closer to the exit door, as reports over the weekend claim he has been handed an ultimatum by the board, which gives him only two games to save his West Ham career. Unfortunately for Bilic, the first of his two career-defining matches sees his side face free-scoring Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night.
One man who is hoping to get his name on the score-sheet and drive West Ham out of the rut they’re in is Michail Antonio, who spoke of his Wembley heroics for Southampton during an interview this week. Antonio who emphasised the magnitude of the game for the club and the fans during a season-defining week for the Hammers, has received a backlash from frustrated fans on Twitter.
“I’d love to score again on Wednesday night!”https://t.co/jUPLLGnW2h
— West Ham United (@WestHam) October 23, 2017
The West Ham faithful are understandably disillusioned with the state of their clubs form at the moment, and appear far more concerned with a rise in their sides overall performance than Antonio’s sentiment towards Wembley.
The punters propping up the bar here also believe that Antonio must improve fundamental aspects to his game, before he can dream of rediscovering his goalscoring form once again.
With that said, here’s what the Hammers had to say on Twitter in response to Antonio…
I'd love to see us have shots on goal first.
