Benitez must give these 2 Newcastle players a chance vs Huddersfield on Sunday

Down at the Football Transfer Tavern today our Newcastle fans are discussing which two fringe players should be given the chance to get some much needed minutes under their belts.

After Jonjo Shelvey’s red card at the weekend, Newcastle struggled to cope with 10 men against a tough Tottenham Hotspur side, eventually conceding two goals.

Benitez has yet to dip his toe fully into the transfer market due to funds not being available, although 6 new faces have arrived at St. James’ Park and with the suspended Shelvey missing in the coming weeks, a midfield place is up for grabs for a player wanting to make an impression.

Newcastle will be wanting to get their season goal tally off the mark away at Huddersfield this weekend. In the Premier League, the fight for first season survival relays on having a forward that can score goals, our landlord nods his head towards a striker they already have within their ranks with Premier League experience already under his belt.

Our punters will be hoping for a similar away result to last season’s 3-1 victory.

Hopefully, these two players can come into the side and make the difference…

Dan Barlaser

Dan Barlaser is a skilful midfielder with a wide range of passing and an eye for goal.

He could be the perfect attacking player to fill the midfield hole left by Shelvey.

The former winger now plying his trade as a centre midfielder loves taking people on, creating space and his forward thinking attitude can turn defence into attack very quickly.

The 20-year-old’s been making huge waves in the u23’s and on Saturday will be looking to take the step up, make an impression and let Benitez know he’s ready for the first team.

Aleksandar Mitrovic

Reportedly Aleksander Mitrovic has been put up for sale by Newcastle, but with the lack of frontline options at the moment for Newcastle, he could propel himself into the forefront of Benitez’s mind for the season ahead.

Not the most prolific of strikers, Mitrovic is a bit of a fan favourite amongst the Magpies fans with his work rate and high pressing.

Maybe this mentality could be used to defend from the front and set the tone for the match ahead.

He may not score many goals but he will definitely cause Huddersfield a headache up front.
