The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that their on-loan striker, Islam Slimani, could be making his first appearance in black and white during the club’s friendly fixture against Royal Antwerp whilst in Spain for their warm-weather training camp.
The news is sure to excite the Magpies propping our bar up as they’re yet to see the big Algerian turn out for Rafa Benitez owing to an injury he’s been carrying since joining the club on loan in January. Slimani joined the club on loan from Leicester City after failing to nail down a starting role with the Foxes since joining the club from Portuguese club, Sporting, back in summer 2016.
The Toon Army saw Serbian striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic leave St James Park for Craven Cottage on loan in January as they brought in Slimani. Fans will be hoping their new man can make a bigger impact than Mitrovic has so far this campaign as the Northeast club look to secure Premier League survival with eight games remaining this season.
