The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern were absolutely buzzing for Aleksandar Mitrovic last night.
Indeed, the Toon star helped Serbia through to the World Cup finals with the assist in a 1-0 win over Georgia and will more than likely spearhead their campaign in Russia next summer.
While the 23-year-old has had to wait for his chance at club level, he’s certainly a popular figure amongst our Geordie contingent, so the fact he’ll likely fulfil what must have always been a dream has delighted the punters propping up our bar.
Even the biggest players in the world are far from guaranteed a place at the biggest competition in world football, so the fact that Mitrovic will be there is a reason to smile on Tyneside.
