Bielsa’s tactical decisions have cost Leeds United this season

Leeds

Leeds United have been a mixed bag in recent times but they still find themselves in a promising position to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites have been a force to be reckoned with in the current campaign under Marcelo Bielsa, but the wheels have started to come off in recent times. Indeed, the South American has struggled to get the best out of his side and has failed to find answers, which is why they currently find themselves outside of the automatic promotion places.

Worryingly, the 63-year-old has struggled in recent times and has made a number of debatable managerial decisions this season, which has cost them dearly.

With that being said, here’s a look at TWO of Bielsa’s biggest blunders…

Slow starts to games

It’s important to start strong in matches to gain the upper-hand and assert your dominance on the opposition, but Leeds haven’t managed to do that enough in recent times.

Indeed, it appears as if Marcelo Bielsa is struggling to get the best out of his players at this moment in time, with the Whites conceding first in four of their last six Championship fixtures. And, in these four fixtures, the Yorkshire club have failed to secure all three points, so it’s clear to see that slow starts are beginning to cost them.

Tactical changes

Bielsa has kept pretty much the same side throughout the current campaign unless an injury has occurred, so the players should all be familiar with what is being asked of them.

However, the South American has been known to make minor tactical adjustments that have gone wrong in matches gone by, and the Birmingham City game was a prime example of that. Indeed, the Leeds boss attempted to tinker Kalvin Phillips’ positioning slightly, which went on to cost them the game and all three points.
